Do Not Stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

i really enojyed this poem because it had a nice flow and great diction. i really enjoy poems that have the same line or two at the begining and end. the subject was interesting. the poet, who is unknown, wrote about someone who is dead laying in a coffin or buried. it was simply says dont mourn for my loss but be happy that i jad a good like. the personal connection it had with me is that i would feel the same way. i dont want people to mourn when i die but be glad that knew me. the diction was good because it could really picture someone standing at someones grave and weeping or crying for their loss.

I think this poem is about a man who doesn't want people to mourn over his death. I think he was happy with his life and decided that it was time for him to go. He is saying that he is still in the persons life, he will always be with him. Hes saying he didn't die and his life will be everlasting.
I like this poem because I think thats how it will be when i die. I want people to know I will always be with them in their hearts.

This poem was my favorite also. I feel that we should mourn for those we have lost but rememeber them for all the great things they brought to our lives. Yea i wouldnt want people mourn at my grave either i would want them to think about all the good times we had. People who have passed will always be with us in our hearts and in spirit.

i feel that this poem has to deal with ones death. when i read this poem, it made me feel that one who has passed away, will never be forgotten. also, people should just stand at others graves, they should at least relize all the good times they had in the past and realize that death means alot. even though u die, your spirit will live forver.

i think i agree with you 100%. it was one of my favorite poems. it tells people to charish one death instead of cry over it. that there is more to life and that hey should live there life to the fullest. this person is still with you in your heart and in nature.
